Early on, he'd learned to enjoy simple things, things that couldn't be bought, and he had a hard time understanding people who felt otherwise.

In Broadway by Design, BroadwayWorld is shining a spotlight on the stellar designs of this Broadway season, show by show. That was shot at Cypress Gardens in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. The geese that were portrayed in the shot weren’t native to the area, so the birds were brought in and had to be trained to follow the boat and appear on screen at the appropriate time. Cypress Garden’s scenes were filmed during January so as to avoid the alligators, which were hibernating at the time. In the case of The Notebook house, the house used for filming does exist and someone currently lives in it.

The owner revealed in 2020 that the camera crew only used the exterior of the property, and never ventured inside for any shots. This home has the kind of authentic Southern charm that would be no stranger to the characters from the movie. When Noah’s renovation project is over, we see the house pretty much as it is today. The production team only added a side porch and the blue shutters to match Allie’s vision for the house.

The lake is also located inside the Boone Hall Plantation & Gardens property and you can see it from far if you go on the hay ride that is also included with admission. Although they could have used South Carolina beaches for this scene, it was actually filmed in California, at El Matador Beach, in Malibu. Unfortunately, since this is a private residence, they don't offer tours.

The filming of the house’s exterior was done on Wadmalaw Island, SC, at what’s known as Bears Bluff Plantation or Martins Point. But the town where the movie was supposed to be set was called Seabrook, SC. The summer house of Allie’s monied family is the Boone Hall Plantation, 1235 Long Point Road, Mount Pleasant, about eight miles north of Charleston.
Though the exterior was filmed at Boone Hall Plantation, the interior shots of the Hamiltons' summer home were filmed at this historic mansion that dates back to the 1800s. The house is the largest private residence in the entire city and received millions of dollars in renovations to restore it to its former glory. When Allie and Noah meet, her family is staying in their lavish summer house. Boone Hall Plantation served as the setting for all of the exterior scenes that were featured in the film.
The rowboat scene in The Notebook was located at Cypress Gardens. This was my favorite spot to tour, and I would definitely visit again. You have the opportunity to take a self-guided boat tour, which goes through the same area that Noah and Allie explored. The inside of Allie’s summer home was filmed at Williams Mansion, which used to be known as Calhoun Mansion. As well as seeing the inside of Allie’s Summer Home, the tour will show you what being part of the wealthiest class in Charleston would have felt like. Noah takes Allie boating through a flock of geese at Cypress Gardens, 3030 Cypress Gardens Road, Moncks Corner, another location seen in Cold Mountain and The Patriot, along with Swamp Thing.

Truman's administration (1948–1952), the White House was gutted to create more space and to provide structural stability to the original walls. It was “reconstructed”; none of the original mantels and little of the original woodwork survive.
And, like the presidency itself, the home at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C. Indeed, the elegant porticoed mansion we see today looks very different from the austere porch-less Georgian-style house designed over two hundred years ago. The vice president’s offices are in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building (EEOB), built on the White House grounds between 1871 and 1888. Originally, the building was meant for the State Department and other offices, but expanding duties of the White House led more and more White House functions to be moved into the building. In 1949, the entire building was formally given to the Executive Office of the President. Fifty years later, it was renamed after former president Dwight D. Eisenhower.
With only a first name, it is difficult to learn more information about Jacob. However, there are some details that can be extracted from just a name, such as location and genealogical information about the slave owner. According to the 1800 census, the year White House construction concluded, Fenwick lived with three enslaved individuals at his Georgetown home.16 Based on this information, it might appear that Fenwick did not own many enslaved individuals. The decision to use enslaved labor in construction came naturally to the commissioners. All three of the original commissioners belonged to the landed gentry and owned enslaved people. Some of the later commissioners even hired out their own enslaved people to labor on the Capitol Building and the White House.
Renowned for her beauty and refined taste, she collected and displayed items of historic and artistic value throughout its rooms. She made the White House a centre of national culture and awakened public interest in its beauties by conducting a televised tour of the mansion in 1962. Hoban had tried out a neoclassical design in Charleston, South Carolina, as he was finishing up the 1792 Charleston County Courthouse. Washington liked the design, so on October 13, 1792, the cornerstone was laid for the President's House in the new capital. Most of the labor was done by African Americans, some free and some enslaved.
James Hoban rebuilt it according to the original design, but this time the sandstone walls were painted white. In 1948, during the presidency of Harry Truman (1945–53), the main building was discovered to be structurally unsound; during the next four years the entire interior was carefully rebuilt, though the original exterior walls were left standing. The last major alterations to the White House were made in the 1960s by Jacqueline Kennedy, wife of Pres.
Its neoclassical style inspired civic buildings nationwide, set a model for state capitols and governors’ mansions, and became an emblem for private and international architectural projects. The design of the White House facilitates its dual role as a residence and workspace.
